Born Into the Fire: The No-BS Glow-Up Guide for Turning Pain Into Power
Me and Dahmer had the same childhood. But I chose to heal.”
What do you do with a life shaped by chaos, shame, and silence?
You reclaim it.
You alchemize it.
You feed the fire.
In this bold, laugh-through-the-tears book, Libbey Pelaia-Krumhansl – health practitioner and lived-experience firestarter – offers a new lens for healing. Part memoir, part movement, Born Into the Fire explores how trauma lives in the body, how systems gaslight our pain, and how we rise – through science, spirit, and lived experience.
This isn’t about overcoming. It’s about becoming.
If you’re a survivor, an empath, or a soul tired of feeling like a walking coping mechanism – this is your permission slip to stop shrinking and start healing.
Because if the collective burned at their brightest – could you even imagine the darkness that would be extinguished? - Libbey Pelaia-Krumhansl

In addition to my work in community health and wellness, I co-led a study exploring how self-affirmation impacts our ability to manage stress under pressure. Our research discovered something powerful: it’s not just the presence of stress that affects us, but our beliefs about stress that shape our outcomes. When we view stress as something we can make use of, rather than avoid, we’re more likely to feel resilient and emotionally grounded. It’s a reminder that our inner thoughts hold power. Small, intentional practices can create real shifts in how we think, feel, and respond to challenges.

OnePath: Safer Opioid Prescribing is an award-winning podcast I had the privilege of hosting and co-managing. This project was close to my heart, created to shine a light on the opioid crisis by blending research and real-life stories. We shared the voices of those working tirelessly on the frontlines, as well as those whose lives have been deeply impacted. It was an honor to hold space for these conversations and help connect science with the human experience behind it.
